EARLY DAYS The whole family joined the Jockey Club de Rosario when she was 13 and by 1994 she was travelling over 300km from her hometown of Rosario to Buenos Aires twice a week for training with the national junior squad. The bus journey took a minimum of three and a half hours and as the training sessions started at 8am she had to get up at 3am. The Argentina Hockey Confederation [CAH] never helped with fares or lodging costs and she had to give up studying business administration so she could maintain the commitment to her training schedule. She admitted to feeling like giving up her international ambitions, but her family talked her out of it. (FIH, 07 Mar 2002) |
